Will the PETITAGE 18-inch fit my child?

The PETITAGE 18 is an 18-inchkids' bike designed for children ages approximately 5–7 and between 110 and 135 cm in height. The saddle height is approximately 57–63 cm. The low Wave-frame makes it easier to get on and off the bike. The age range is provided as a guide; the decisive factors are height, inseam length, and a secure fit.

Here's how to measure your child's stride length

Have your child stand barefoot with their back against a wall. Slide a sturdy book horizontally between their legs and carefully up to their crotch. Mark the top edge of the book on the wall, then measure the distance from the floor to the mark—this measurement is the inseam length. As an additional guide, you can compare the measured inseam length with the specified saddle height range. The practical seat test remains crucial: Your child should be able to get on and off safely, control the “ handlebar ,” and, depending on their riding ability, maintain sufficient contact with the ground.

More independence, without having to give up your favorite look

At ages five, six, or seven, the bike increasingly becomes a child’s constant companion. Rides with friends get longer, and what starts as practice becomes routine. The PETITAGE 18 supports this development with a practical intermediate size between 16 and 20 inches.

Lower step-in height, classic retro look

The distinctive Wave-frame combines the PETITAGE retro look with a low step-through frame. This provides extra freedom of movement, especially when stopping and getting on the bike, making it comfortable and easy to use in everyday life.

Braking in a controlled manner

Aluminum V-brakes on the front and rear provide two hand brakes that can be operated independently. The " brake lever " are designed for use by children, allowing them to apply the front and rear brakes in a controlled manner.

A steel frame, aluminum rims, pneumatic tires, chain guard , and mudguards combine to create a sturdy bike for use on roads, bike paths, and paved trails. The single-speed drivetrain keeps operation simple.

Safety and Care

CAUTION: Assembly and adjustments must be performed only by adults. Use only for one child and in accordance with the specified wheel size, age, height, and weight guidelines. Wear an appropriate bicycle helmet, sturdy shoes, and appropriate protective gear. Before every ride, check that the brakes, tyre, rims, saddle, steering, pedals , and fasteners are secure and functioning properly. Practice safe braking with the child; braking distance is longer in wet conditions. Do not use for tricks, stunts, or off-road riding. Use only in suitable areas that are as free of traffic as possible and away from stairs, bodies of water, slopes, and roadways. If equipped, use the stabilisers only during a brief learning phase and adjust it equally on both sides. Observe national regulations for use on public roads. Read and follow the instruction manual in its entirety before first use.

Store in a dry place protected from the elements. Clean and dry after exposure to moisture. Regularly maintain the chain and moving parts to prevent corrosion.
